CONCERN

Below is the response of a Customer regarding our Service.


"My neighbours also phone me when my alarm goes off, because I exchange
 handphone nos. with them.  Security starts with yourself.  Give your
handphone no. to your neighbours and tell them to phone you when the alarm
next goes off.  Then you can phone Homeguard Help to investigate and report
back to you.  That is part of their service.

Depending on the guard 100 % to hear your alarm is not realistic.  What
happens when there is heavy rain drowning out the alarm?

All the above mentioned are deterrents which should be integrated into the
system of deterrents.  Not organising your neighbours is also a security
breach.

You have every right to ask Homeguard what happened today at lunchtime, and
admonish them if you feel they have failed in honouring the terms of their
service.  So give Raj a call.

Keeping them on their toes is part of our moral duty for the community,
though it is not a statutory duty.  We have gone from 27 subscribers to 60
now, and though it is not perfect, we have definitely made some progress
over the years.

The subscription scheme in Taman Kemuning Greenville has collapsed as few
people have been paying regularly there.  All the guards have been withdrawn
and the guardposts closed down.  Who to blame?  We can all argue till the
cows come home.

The rise and fall of these schemes, like the pioneering one in Taman Tun Dr.
Ismail, follow a pattern.  The schemes start when there is a flurry of
burglaries. Paranoia reigns and people are panicked into recruiting the
security company.  Then when the burglaries become less or disappear
altogether, the typical Malaysian begins to question why the heck they are
still paying for the guards.  Begone with them, they say!  That's when the
nitpicking starts.

It's all a question of attitude.  Some more civic-minded people look upon
the scheme as contributing to the economy, keeping a fella and his family
off the streets, and doing their bit for the wellbeing of the neighbourhood.
But more often than not, selfishness overcomes community feeling.  It's
never prosper thy neighbour, but beggar them!"
